Simply beautiful. I can't think how to define it. It comes across as a modern romantic epic, almost shakespearean, but it stands head, shoulders, torso, hips and kneecaps above anything else like it. Go and find a trailer of it now, watch that, and then try and imagine all the electrifying potential that the trailer sowed realised in the most perfect ways. Don't let Jim Carey put you off either, because he delivers a stunning performance and keeps his banale idiocy and showmanship leashed in (apart from a couple of scenes where you can see Ace Ventura desperately trying to escape from behind a deadpan expression).
There's so much I want to say about this film but I'm just not worthy of writing about it without dedicating a few days to a proper review - just trying to sum it up here is causing me to lose my grip on the English language, as if God is preventing me from tainting such a creation.
Just see it.
9.5 jesters out of 10.
